Watershed Public Charter School provides an interconnected learning environment, where hands-on exploration and creative expression foster the learning process. Our community promotes rigorous academic achievement, meaningful outdoor experiences and continuous growth for all students.

Just as all life in a watershed is connected, we believe that learning is most meaningful when it crosses disciplines. Our vision is to provide a rigorous and collaborative learning environment emphasizing artistic expression and scientific exploration of the natural world in and outside the classroom. Students develop critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills, as well as a sense of social responsibility and global awareness that promote a lifelong love of learning.

Watershed Public Charter School (“WPCS”) is a highly diverse environmental arts elementary-middle school within the Baltimore County Public School (“BCPS”) system. Watershed first opened its doors in August of 2019, founded by a group of parents that were committed to providing a different public school experience to the students of Baltimore County. As a charter school, WPCS is also overseen by Watershed Public Charter School, Inc. (“Watershed, Inc.), the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization responsible for the oversight, support, and enhancement of WPCS while staying true to its mission and vision. As a testament to WPCS’ status as a state and nationally recognized school, the Baltimore County Board of Education renewed WPCS’ charter agreement with BCPS for 5 years by a unanimous vote in November of 2023. Watershed is the recipient of many grants and awards, including recognition as a National Green Ribbon School, and a recipient of the U.S. Department of Energy Renew America's Schools grant.
